For my limitation project i did black out poetry for the simple fact that it interests me. It was kinda of hard to do my limitation project because anyone can scribble out words you just have to know what words to scribble out. Newspaper blackout poetry is what inspired me to do black out poetry. Originally i was going to figure paint Bella's lullaby onto a big sheet of paper, but i realize that would take longer than what we had time for so i went with blackout poetry. The blackout poetry was a backup plan in case the finger painting didn't work out. I can honestly say I would do blackout poetry again only instead of just coloring out words I will make designs on the paper. Some challenges i faced was trying to use different colored sharpies for my poetry, i kept wanting to use only black sharpies. When i tried to use newspaper to make my blackout poetry i used paint and that was harder because the paint didn't really take well to the newspaper, the paint wouldn't really show up i had to use several coats to cover big areas i didn't wants to use sharpie on. I used my book called the anatomy of wings for my blackout poetry. Another challenge I faced was not forgetting to leave words not colored in, for example i wanted to keep the words see for part of my poem but i colored it in. Trying to keep the sharpie away from my words was a challenge too. I think finding happy phrases that stood out to me was a challenge because the only phrases that seemed to stand out were sad and depressing phrases. It was surprisingly easy to find words that stood out to me. I had tried to do newspaper blackout, but there weren't really any words that stood out to me there. The image below is an example of the newspaper inspiration. So from the limitations videos is that basically anything can be a limitation, like painting without letting the brush hit the canvas or paper, or using your skin to paint or using candy to help make art because with candy you have to resist the urge to eat it. Anything can be a limitation. What i learned from one guy is that if you have a disability that can be used for a limitation, like the guy who uses his type writter, or the man who had a stroke those two used their disabilities for their art.

For my alternative project i did a large scale painting. I chose to do something Harry Potter related which is Always is the deathly hollows symbol as the a, the quote those who love us never truly leave us is also from Harry Potter. Okay? Okay. Is from the fault in our stars and i only chose that because i didn't know what else to do for my project and i wasn't just going to leave always for the simple fact i did it too small. The other things were just things I did last minuet. I think the hardest thing for this project was getting the words painted onto the paper. Making it look nice was also a challenge. I didn't draw anything out first i just got to painting. Finding colors that looked good together was also a challenge. If i had to do this again i think i would plan it out better and actually know what I'm going to do. At first for this project i was going to something Disney related but i changed my mind realizing that it would take more time then what we were given. i switched from pain to sharpie and did it in a book instead of newspaper.
For my blog post on our perspective unit i decided to use the hall way drawing I did and the hall way drawing Jen and I did. The Walking Dead themed one is the one jen and i did together. The other picture is the one I did when we learned about one point perspective which is using one vanishing point. My two point perspective drawings didn't turn out so good so i went with these two.
I learned with this unit that it is important to make sure every line besides your vertical lines, line up with the vanishing point. The vertical lines need to be parallel in order for the picture to turn out right. For the walking dead hall Jen and i used graffite pencils and red and black paint. We drew the hall that is coming up to the high school part of the school. The other hall is the hall right outside of the art room. I think next time i do perspective drawings I'll try to find a hall with a different lay out that will be a challenge because doing these halls that i did was a little too easy. i leaned that everything is a remix and we're all basically stealing by watching the two video clips, and that's ok if we steal as long as we change something about it. We should also embrace remixing things because EVERYTHING IS A REMIX.
I leaned parody is poking fun at something. Appropriation is using artwork and selling it off as your own. Intertextuality is shape the meaning of one thing and combine two other things for a different meaning. I chose this a backroad and lyrics to backroad song by granger Smith because I love backroads just cause you don't know where you're going and backroad song is one of my favorite songs. I used charcoal for the background to make it dark like how it is when you're on a backroad at night. This unit changed my thoughts on stealing and using inspiration for artwork. Now I know I can steal artwork I like and combine it with something else to shape a different meaning.
I learned that red can make a burgundy and sticking with one color was tricky cause I wanted to do more then one color.
this is my painting technique challenge one of the many things we have done during our painting boot camp. Some challenges I have faced during the painting boot camp and doing this is mixing the colors till they were just right. Some of the techniques I learned during this painting boot camp will help me in the future. I have always loved to paint even tho I get paint in my hair mysteriously. Some of these techniques are new to me so they will come in handy later one.
this is the ending result of my personal landscape drawing. I learned through this project that adding a reflection in water is important and adding value to the river is important. This project will help me better understand how to draw another landscape. I added walking in a winter wonderland to the drawing because my drawing is about a winter wonderland.
this is what my landscape post is about. This is in my hometown of caldwell idaho. Its called the winter wonderland. The next picture is the progress i have made so far
Jen and I had a color misixng challange. Some difficulties I had was getting the right colors. This challange was fun. We used chalk pastel and oil pastel.
